The Ardrossan Bisons have been affectionately dubbed “The Little School That Could”  by the local press, referring to their usual Tier IV small school status.  Even so, from the school’s small student population comes a select group of talented and well-coached players to create a team that cuts it’s teeth on competition within the Edmonton Metro League against Tier I, II and III schools.

The Bisons have won the Miles Conference championship in the past and often advance to the semi-final Provincial Playoffs for Tier IV. The Bisons are also often ranked in the top 4 teams in the Province at the Tier IV level and are seen as the team to beat.

The Herd faces another challenge in 2017  and will become a more battle-hardened team for the Provincials this season, since they compete in the Miles Conference and will therefore face tougher and larger teams than they typically face in Provincial play.

Ardrossan High School Football has a long-standing tradition of successful Edmonton Metro and Provincial Championship play.

Bisons Play in the Edmonton Metro Miles Division - Pool B

There are 3 Metro High School Football Divisions (Carr, Miles & Bright) housing 28 teams in total.  The Gilfillan Division will serve to host playoffs for teams that place 4-6 in the Miles Division.

The Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association is a voluntary, non profit organization that has been established to coordinate a program of worthwhile athletic activities for the young people of Alberta in an educational setting. The membership, currently 373 high schools, ultimately determines the policy of the Association through representation on the provincial Board of Governors.

In order to provide a competitive balance, member schools are placed into classifications for all major sports based on the schools' enrollments. Divisions and the tier classification systems are not equivalent. Exact sizes are:
